Course Description

This course will examine several traditions of Indigenous thought, with a focus on the peoples indigenous to the Americas and the Pacific. We will prioritize Indigenous voices as we explore questions central to the humanities: What is the nature of the world we inhabit? What is the place of humanity in this world? What does it mean to be a good person? We will explore these questions with a sensitivity to histories of marginalization and colonization. While some background knowledge of Indigenous cultures is helpful, it is not necessary for enrolling in this course.
