Our fields of study are extensive, and most of our faculty and students are involved in multiple fields of study rather than being confined to a single “track.” We offer concentrations in the fields of Ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern Religions; Buddhist Studies; Chinese Thought; Comparative and Transnational Islam; Ethics, Philosophy, and Politics in the Study of Religion; History of Christianity; Jewish Thought and Culture; Religion in the Americas; and Religions of South Asia. Our program also features a variety of innovative concentration called Religion, Textuality & Cultural Imagination. What is distinctive about IU Religious Studies is the way that our departmental culture encourages conversations across these categories, and most of our faculty and students are involved in multiple fields and concentrations.
