Department of Religious Studies

This course surveys the history and literature of Christianity from its origins to its establishment as the dominant religion in the Roman Empire in the fifth century. Topics studied include: martyrdom and persecution; church-state relations; the origins of monasticism; heresy and orthodoxy.
