The Carleton T. Hodge Prize is a faculty-nominated award for advanced graduate students at IU who have demonstrated excellence in African Studies scholarship as well as commitment to public engagement with African Studies through outreach, service, and leadership over the course of their graduate career. Emily Stratton was selected this year for her work developing a training program for IU Global Gateway for Teachers, designing and teaching the African Studies Program’s most popular undergraduate course, mentoring early-career graduate students, and her past work as President of IU’s Graduate Students in African Studies.
