Profs. Sarah Imhoff and Cooper Harriss hosted a workshop at IU’s Gateway Campus in Berlin on May 5-7. Part of the American Religion initiative funded by the Center for Religion and the Human, “De-centering American Religion” involved Profs. Harriss, Imhoff, and Prof. Winni Sullivan, along with several colleagues from across Africa and Europe. The workshop, which first met virtually in March 2021, aims to “decenter” the study of American Religion – away from the US – and to build (and contribute to) regional and hemispheric networks of scholars who “do” American religion in exciting and unusual ways.
