Richard Nance will serve as presider of what promises to be a provocative online roundtable for the Buddhism Unit at the AAR conference. The session, entitled “Manifestos for Buddhist Studies” will feature ten scholars offering brief presentations that address the following questions: “What do the legacies of the past and the pressures of the present entail for the future of Buddhist Studies? How might the field address itself to this future in such a way as to warrant its continued (if perhaps altered) existence? And how might an altered vision for the future in turn transform our engagement with the past and the present?” An accompanying website has been created. Sun, Nov 21, 12:30pm-2:30pm.
