On October 22nd, David Haberman presented a paper titled “Returning to the Gods of the Land” as part of a panel on “Social Science Perspectives on Religion and Climate Change” at the annual meeting of the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion held this year in Portland, Oregon. The paper explored local understandings of climate-change related disasters in the central Himalaya of India due to deteriorating glaciers and extreme weather events.
