Congratulations to Professor Aaron Stalnaker on his recent promotion! Aaron specializes in the comparative study of religious ethics, particularly with reference to the early confucian tradition. He is particularly interested in the relevance of ancient conceptions of human excellence, relationships, and character formation to life in contemporary heterogeneous, democratic societies. He teaches courses on Chinese thought and on conceptions of the self, east and west. His new book is Mastery, Dependence, and the Ethics of Authority.
