Maggie Slaughter has been contemplating grasshoppers and mailboxes! She’s written two more pieces for the Genealogies of Modernity Project at the Collegium Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture based at the University of Pennsylvania. “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: the Temple Mailbox of Amritsar” explores Sikh ethics, Canadian history, and the colonial impulse to miniaturize. “Excommunicating Exoskeletons: The Case of Gregarious Grasshoppers” thinks through locusts, law, and religion in early modern Spain.
