The Center for Religion & the Human presented its inaugural Iris Book Award on September 26, funded by a grant from the Luce Foundation. The event, which was attended via Zoom by participants from around the globe, consisted of an award ceremony, a reading from the award-winning author David George Haskell from his book The Songs of Trees, and responses to Haskell’s work from religion scholar Kocku von Stuckrad and cultural ecologist and philosopher David Abram. IU Professor Lisa Sideris moderated the event. The Iris Award honors exemplary writing and scholarship at the intersection of science, religion, and nature, as it pertains to questions of what it means to be human. Watch the recording.
