
Amber Lowe was selected to participate in the Institute for Islamic, Christian, and Jewish Studies 2025 Faculty Seminar, titled “No Church | No State: Religious Experiments in Imagining the World Otherwise.” Lowe’s presentation, “Temporalities of Ending and Becoming: Unwriting the World, Imagining Otherwise,” argues that time functions as a colonial and theological technology that stabilizes the modern world, and calls for the unwriting of this temporal order through Black feminist poethics, sacred refusals, and nonlinear religious practices that open toward other genres of being and worlds beyond the confines of Church and State.
