Sonia Velázquez and Winni Sullivan participated in a workshop on heresy at Columbia University on September 26. Seven religious studies scholars met to discuss the history of the term in religious studies but also in other fields such as sociology as well as its potential purchase or obsolescence on today's world. Sullivan spoke about Joan of Arc, heresy and the law. Velázquez discussed the history of the term through its imagery in the Middle Ages and Early Modern worldviews.
