On September 17-18, Candy Brown delivered the 2025 Gates Lectures at Grinnell College in Iowa. Gates Lectures were established in 1913 by Grinnell faculty, alumni, and friends in memory of the College’s second president, George A. Gates, who served from 1887–1900. The goal of the lectures is “to bring to the campus the very best of modern thought.” Brown delivered two lectures. She spoke on the topics of “Ethically Engaged Teaching: Transparency and Voluntarism in Mindfulness and Yoga” and on “Miracles and Exorcisms in a Post-Modern World.”
