Gheorghe Păcurar (Religious Studies PhD, 2023) published a recent review of Bruce Lincoln’s Secrets, Lies, and Consequences, which analyzes the last events leading up to Ioan Culianu's murder (1991), and reveals that he was trying to publish politically charged articles by Mircea Eliade, encountered resistance, and sought to protect them when his life was in danger. It is Păcurar’s hope that the publication of this book will revive the interest of researchers and readers alike in Eliade not to unearth an “aged, filthy figure” or “to halt fascism at any cost”, but for a more complete understanding of a man whose writings contributed to the field of religious studies.
