Dr. Rosemary R. Corbett gave at talk at the Center for Religion and the Human, “‘Scientific Statesmen’ and the 20th Century Erasure of Palestine,” the story of two highly influential 20th-century North American academic luminaries and their desperation to define the course of human civilization: past, present, and future. It is the story of how Palestine did and did not fit into their models of history and human progress and how well-connected patrons helped fund and disseminate their work in places ranging from the halls of academia to the U.S. State Department, helping to shape popular and political understandings of the region, its people, and more.
