
On March 31, Laura Carlson Hasler presented a paper at a conference about the uses of pseudepigraphy (falsely attributed writing) in the ancient Mediterranean. The conference was hosted by Loyola University Chicago and the University of Notre Dame. Carlson Hasler’s paper titled, “Is Ezra 4 a Satire? Parody, Time, and Affordance in Ezra’s Persian Correspondence” argued for a new interpretation of Ezra as an anti-imperial spoof.
