The Law and Religion reading group hosted Niels Valdemar Vinding (University of Copenhagen) for a lunch workshop on “Governance of Islam in Europe,” on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Vinding discussed the existing church-state structures as well as the framing raison d’etat for the modern European state that have given rise to a long list of governance strategies and explained that contemporary European states have deeply vested interests in governing Islam, specifically, and religion generally.
