Professor Rebecca Manring was on the go this summer! In early May, she visited Dhaka, Bangladesh to deliver lectures (at Jahangirnagar University and Independent University-Bangladesh) pertaining to her current work on maṇgala-kāvya. She visited the Institute of Languages at BRAC University to conduct a workshop on translation. In late May, Manring continued her travels to a rural district outside of Kolkata to experience the gajan festival. Then she was off to Krakow, Poland for a workshop with the Body and Embodiment in the Middle Bengali Imaginary research group. At the end of June she returned to India to visit language programs in Pune, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Lucknow. She finished her tour by speaking to first-generation college students at Patrasayer College.
