In her recent essay, “We the People of the Book,” Abby Kulisz (Ph.D. 2022) exposes how we often see ourselves as defenders and protectors of objects – in this case books.
Abby Kulisz is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Religious Studies at McMaster University. Her research focuses on how early Christians forged relationships with Muslims and Jews in late antiquity and the medieval period. She is currently working on a book project that explores how early Christians envisioned sharing scripture with Muslims and Jews, and more broadly, the creative ways people have imagined themselves assembled around books, both past and present.
