Prof. Sonia Velázquez presented her book, Promiscuous Grace: Imagining Beauty and Holiness with Saint Mary of Egypt at the Center for Theoretical Inquiry in the Humanities at IU as part of a book event bringing together three authors. The book reveals how Saint Mary of Egypt’s wrinkles represent a new form of beauty that testifies to life and love more than to loss, and they make visible a form of holiness that resides in the quiet of the mundane rather than in the wondrous sublime.
