Mihee Kim-Kort received a 2023 Louisville Institute Dissertation Fellowship for her dissertation project “Koreanity: Citizenship, Transpacific Entanglements, and the Racializing Assemblages of American Christianity.” This dissertation is a critical religious studies experiment that aims at mis/understanding: from immigrant autobiographies to H Mart to Dictee to progressive evangelicals. Kim-Kort explores being and belonging by looking at the multiple subjectivities around koreanity, which she theorizes inflects the racializing assemblages embedded in American Protestantism, American militarism, and American orientalism.
