Rebecca Manring wraps up the first trip of her Fulbright-Hays Professional Excellence flex award, having conducted preliminary field work in rural West Bengal in the villages of Kasbah and Kurmun. She also travelled to the National Institute of Technology in Silchar, Assam, for lectures on translation and on the history of the study of local vernacular literature, and to Gour Banga University in Malda, West Bengal, to deliver the keynote address at an international conference on South Asian Literature.
