On March 9th, PhD students Josie Wenig and Amber Lowe responded to visiting artist Kelvin Burzon’s photography collection, Noli Me Tangere. They compared his corpus with the recently exhibited collage group Solve et Coagula by Ryan M. Pfeiffer + Rebecca Walz at the Cook Center in Maxwell Hall as part of the Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not) digital archive project. Topics included recent injunctions against queer performance in public space, anti-trans bills, “contagion” of queer art, theatrics and contact in Catholic ritual, the whiteness of Jesus Christ in the canon of Christian art, and Filipino Catholicism.
