On February 22, Amber Lowe—alongside PhD student Joshua Lawrence from Boston University’s School of Theology—presented a talk titled “The Sanctified Imagination: Black Futures and Black Faith” at the 20th annual Samuel DeWitt Proctor Clergy and Lay Leadership Conference in Atlanta, GA. This year’s conference theme was Where Future Meets Legacy: Theoethics: African Spirituality, and Afrofuturism. Amber was the presenter for two workshop sessions during the conference, both being the only sessions that focused on Afrofuturism. Each session garnered at least seventy attendees and attracted bible scholars, theologians, scholars of religion, and seminarians from across the country.
