Graduate students in Prof. Sonia Velazquez’s Textuality seminar made paper pies as they discussed Catherine Brown’s “In the Middle.” The text invites readers to imagine the past not as a different country, but as food, something that is consumed and becomes part of people. In lieu of a kitchenette in their seminar room, students turned to paper to practice making and crafting as they considered the materiality of texts.
