Maggie Slaughter received her Ph.D. in Religious Studies from IU in 2024 and has joined Bayard Canada as Acquisitions Editor of English titles at Novalis Publishing. Specifically handling Catholic and interfaith books and resources, she continues to work with both academic and educational communities.
While completing her Ph.D., Slaughter worked as a curatorial & collections assistant specializing in anthropological collections, assisting the chief curator. During that time, she co-ordinated and independently ran an online essay series about pedagogy and teaching as an editor. She has held various teaching appointments during her graduate studies giving lectures, directing initiatives, supporting and advising students, collaborating with and assisting professors.
Project management has been a core expertise utilized in classrooms, conferences, workshops, editorial series, museum facilities, exhibit curation, as well as dissertation design, development, and successful completion. Attentive to precision and clarity in teaching, writing, communications, and data organization, Maggie’s expertise meets a tough work ethic ready for a challenge.
Maggie is passionate about the enhancement of public-facing education–immersive, dynamic, and fun learning for all! She is committed to improving inter-religious dialogue and community conversations about the impact and position of religion in society.
Last but not least, she has been teaching classes at a Ph.D. faculty-led enrichment program for advanced K-12 students, Brain Power, based in Vaughn, Ontario.
