- Course Description
How do we write ourselves and others into and out of our worlds? What kinds of relationships does reading create, alter, or foreclose? In this seminar on textuality and relationality, we will consider questions of ethics and aesthetics together with social history and politics. Topics to be explored include cognitive criticism, reader response, and intersubjective models of selfhood. Although course materials focus on monographs and academic articles, we will also read from literary, devotional, and doctrinal genres.
