Course Description

Do Hindu women in Indiana practice their religion the same ways their grandmothers back in India do/did? How do modern women understand their lives, duties, and responsibilities in light of a religion that goes back thousands of years? And what’s with all those goddesses? Using primary texts, first-person accounts, films and novels, and in-class discussions, students will take turns leading discussions as we explore Hindu women’s religious lives.
