Hoʻokūʻonoʻono

Wednesday, November 17, 2021

On November 17, 2021, Michael Ing presented at the Pacific History Association’s 24th Biennial Conference hosted by the University of the South Pacific (Suva, Fiji). His presentation looked at the work of Native Hawaiian (Kanaka) philosopher Davida Malo (1795 – 1853). More specifically, he examined Malo’s account of being human and flourishing (hoʻokūʻonoʻono) in traditional communities (kauhale). The full article is forthcoming in The Journal of World Philosophies.
